Tomorrow is the last day to enter our "Girls Who Code" book & computer giveaway! Girls Who Code, the non-profit organization that has inspired 40,000 girls to learn to code, is releasing two new books to show girls that, wherever their interests may lie, coding skills can help them make their dreams into reality. In our new giveaway, you can win copies of both books -- and a Raspberry Pi Starter Kit so your Mighty Girl can build her own programmable computer!
The first book, "Girls Who Code: Learn to Code and Change the World," is a fun and accessible introductory coding guide written with girls in mind. Full of dynamic artwork and fascinating examples of real-life coding in action, this guide offers down-to-earth explanations of coding principles and will spark plenty of ideas for her own app, robot, or program that could change the world! The second book, "The Friendship Code," is the start of a new fictional series being described as "The Babysitters Club" for the tech era. In it, Lucy is thrilled to join her middle school's coding club and learn how to make an app to help someone very special to her. When she's put in a work group with girls she barely knows, she's at first disappointed but, when she needs help translating cryptic coding messages, she discovers that friendship, just like coding, requires dedication, patience, and a good sense of humor.
Thanks to its publisher, Penguin Young Readers, we now have an incredible Girls Who Code gift package to give away to A Mighty Girl supporters. Three winners will each receive an autographed copy of "Girls Who Code," a copy of "The Friendship Code," copies of each to donate to a school library designated by the winner, and a Girls Who Code t-shirt. Additionally, one of the three winners will also receive the grand prize of a Raspberry Pi Starter Kit.
The giveaway is free to enter and the three winners will be randomly selected. With apologies to our many non-US-based supporters, due to legal restrictions, the giveaway is only open to US residents. The last day to enter is Sunday, August 20 at midnight.
